Installation of the AXIS HLS leveler in the attic of the historic SW Anna Church in Warsaw.

The church structure was weakened during World War II, especially during the Warsaw Uprising, which the Polish underground army – AK – launched against the German occupiers in 1944.

St. Anne’s Church is located on a steep Vistula escarpment, which is additionally crossed by a very busy tunnel constructed in the 1940s (the so-called WZ route). This poses a significant challenge to the stability of the church structure.

The system was installed in cooperation with Dr. Sławomir Łapiński from the Warsaw University of Technology. The observation results are being analyzed in cooperation with Prof. Łukasz Drobiec from the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice.

AXIS HLS acts as a structural health monitoring system (SHM). Its research is also intended to help find the best method of strengthening the church ceiling.
